Ryan Wilson, hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, has firmly established himself as an American E-Kart Championship (AEKC) legend, with an impressive track record that underscores the mantra, ‘life is better with the belt.’
Wilson’s AEKC journey began with a triumphant first-place finish at the Second AEKC event in 2019. Aged just 15 at the time, he burst onto the scene at Accelerate Indoor Speedway & Events Chicago, clinching the top spot in qualifications and maintaining an unyielding grip on the points standings throughout the entire weekend.
His second AEKC appearance, at the Third AEKC in 2022, saw Wilson narrowly miss out on back-to-back championships, coming in second place. In a thrilling showdown at Autobahn Indoor Speedway & Events Jacksonville, he executed a dramatic final-lap pass, but it wasn’t quite enough to secure the title, falling just one point short.
Ryan Wilson’s racing ambitions extend beyond AEKC; his ultimate dream is to compete in the IndyCar series. However, like any true racing aficionado, he is open to exploring a variety of racing experiences. Hailing from a family deeply rooted in the sport, with both his father and grandfather enjoying successful careers, Wilson’s racing journey has also included stints in USAC Quarter Midgets and Dirt Open Wheel racing.
Remarkably, Wilson’s success has transcended AEKC, with total prize earnings of $12,500 from his participation in the last two AEKC events. Reflecting on his journey, Wilson expresses his profound appreciation for the diverse world of racing and the exceptional competition he has encountered in the AEKC series.
“I find immense joy in all forms of racing, and AEKC has been a tremendous source of inspiration for me,” says Wilson. “It has further kindled my passion for racing, and the caliber of competition I’ve faced in this series ranks among the finest in my racing career.”
