The Accelerate Indoor Speedway STEM Academy (AISSA) is a field trip based curriculum developed by highly experienced STEM educators. This Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) aligned curriculum will give your 3rd through 12th grade students not only a hands-on driving experience but also an entertaining way to enhance learning. Onsite restaurant with food option available.

Developed in collaboration with Chicago Heights School District 170, the Accelerate STEM Academy, with a curriculum aligned with Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards, brings together complete lessons in science, math, physics, and mechanics at the racing-themed entertainment centers that feature Formula 1-inspired electric pro-karts that can reach speeds up to 50 miles per hour.

Designed and created by experienced STEM educators, the Academy serves students in grades 3-12 and provides a hands-on, 21st-century experiential learning opportunity to apply what they’ve learned while driving a go-kart on the race track.

While Accelerate Indoor Speedway appeals to all ages, our team makes a special commitment to youth. In addition to the STEM Academy, the tracks have partnered with Special Olympics and conducted safe driving initiatives for high school students in each of their local markets.

HOW IT WORKS

Starting with a 30 minute, instructor-led educational class, students will participate and learn about the multiple subject areas involved in racing and how they relate to each other.

This includes:

The History of racing and background knowledge
The Science behind speed, acceleration and friction
Newton’s Laws of Motion (first, second and third)
Momentum
Mathematics (degrees, angles and turns)
Reading/Language Arts (racing vocabulary, safety and terminology)

Students will get take-home notes, sample problems, and above all, a complete hands-on experience that allows them to apply what they have learned to real life. Perfect for school field trips as well as for educations trips for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Boys Clubs, Girls Clubs, YMCA, Junior Achievement, etc.
