Accelerate Indoor Speedway & Events Raises Over $13,000 for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research.

Max Pound was a talented and generous young racer who caught the attention of David Larson, managing partner of Accelerate Indoor Speedway & Events, with his impressive speeds at Autobahn Dulles. Sadly, Max’s racing career was cut short at the age of 12 when he passed away after battling Glioblastoma Multiforme, a deadly form of brain cancer.

To honor Max and raise awareness and funds for pediatric brain cancer research, all nine Autobahn Indoor Speedway and both Accelerate Indoor Speedway locations donated 25% of their sales on April 14, 2023, to The Lilabean Foundation for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research. The highlight of the day was the Max Pound Junior Racer Invitational at Autobahn BWI, where nearly 40 elite young racers aged 8-12 competed for the top cash prize.

Pediatric brain tumors are the deadliest form of cancer in children, and only a small fraction of cancer research funding is directed towards finding safer and more effective treatments for this type of cancer. The Lilabean Foundation was founded by Nicole and Mike Giroux after their daughter, Lila, was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer at 15 months old. The foundation aims to improve outcomes for children with brain cancer by driving forward safer and more effective treatments and raising awareness and funds for pediatric brain cancer research.

Accelerate Indoor Speedway & Events is proud to have been a part of this event and looks forward to hosting more community-focused events in the future. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Max Pound Junior Racer Invitational and supported this important cause. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and improve the world.
